Bad Mileage: 98 tons of plants per gallon
These numbers could be way off, but it still clearly demonstrates that time is not the only factor that makes fossil fuels unsustainable. The article also fails to mention that the part of oil that isn't made into gasoline isn't all wasted. So, it may take aproximately 98 tons of plant material to make the oil needed to make a gallon of gas, but it's not fair to say that the same amount of plant material only makes a gallon of gas. Still, it's a lot of plants.
